What is the latest arrival time?
It is possible to arrive later in the evening, however if you are planning to do so, please contact us to let us know what time you will be arriving so we can arrange for someone to meet you.

Yes and straighteners.

What about laundry facilities at the cottage?
A washer and a drier are located in the basement. Please remember to clean out the lint tray in the drier each time to avoid the risk of fire. There is also an iron and ironing board.

What basics are provided within the cottage?
The cottage is used as our vacation home so you will find most of the basics to hand. For example, you will find salt, pepper, oil and vinegar, tea towels and oven gloves, dishwashing liquid, cloth and scourer sponges, some dishwasher tablets, a bin bag for the kitchen bin, hand soap, and some toilet roll. We ask that you replace everything you have finished so the next guests are able to enjoy the same.

How reliable is the wifi?
As a rural setting we do not have access to fibre broadband, but we have wifi. Although the internet service can be slow/intermittent when lots of devices are online at the same time, for the most part we are able to stream Netflix with no issues.

Do you accept dogs?
No, we have a ‘no pet’ policy and so we are unable able to accept any dogs (no matter how small or well behaved….sorry!)

Can we order groceries to arrive at the cottage?
Yes, but we ask that you book the delivery for a time slot after your expected arrival time.

Are there places we can eat outside?
Yes. We have garden furniture for seated eating and drinking. There is also a screened in summer room to lounge in if the bugs get too much at night.

Is there somewhere we can have a BBQ?
Yes, please bring your own charcoal though. There are BBQ tools in the useful things cupboard to borrow.

Are we able to have a fire outside onsite?

No. Motorised boats are prohibited on the lake. There is a canoe for guests to use. Please take care not to lose the oars. Guests will be responsible for the cost of replacing them.

Is there a lifeguard?
Access to the lake from the cottage is private and there is no lifeguard. Guests are invited to use the lake at their own risk. There is a public beach at the bottom of Roberts Drive where there is occasionally a lifeguard on duty.

Where is the nearest supermarket?
Our nearest supermarket is DeCicco’s on Route 6 in Jefferson Valley which 3 miles away (about a 10 minute drive). There is a larger Stop & Shop further up Route 6 in Baldwin Place which is about 6 miles away (15 minutes).

Can you recommend anywhere to eat?

There is a welcome sheet in the house with some local delivery/pick up suggestions if you don’t feel like cooking. Please also see the “Local Area” part of this website for some suggestions which are a bit further afield, such as The Culinary Institute of America in Hyde Park and Blue Hill at Stone Barns in Tarrytown, which will require advanced booking.
